Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

C.W.O.F.

I received a CWOF for possesion of Marijuana. Althouh the case will ultimately be dismissed, I am concerned about seeking employment. Will the charge ''possession of marijuana'' appear on my record, even if it shows as dismissed. I am afraid potential employers will see this and label me a pothead.

Re: C.W.O.F.

It is illegal for employers to ask about any arrests. They can only ask about convictions. A "CWOF" is not a conviction and won't appear on your record. The only exception would be if you applied for a government job as they have access to different record checks.
