If a defendant charged in a criminal case who has autism spectrum disorder disability wants a family member in when he talks to his lawyer can lawyer refuse to allow that to happen?

You mention autism spectrum disorder. Is the defendant competent (i.e., of sound mind) to make his own life decisions? If so, the ultimate decision about who may participate in the conference with the lawyer is up to the defendant to make. The lawyer can advise one way or the other about that, but the bottom line is that he/she (i.e., the lawyer) should honor the defendant's request in that regard.
