Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Destruction of documents
I live in Nevada, and my future ex-wife lives in Massachusetts. She is currently holding the notarized documents we filled in to apply for an annulment in the state of Nevada (where the marriage took place). The future ex's roommate destroyed these documents. 1) Can she be charged with destruction of property, and is it worth bringing those charges? 2) Do we have some kind of standing to get compensation for the destruction of the documents? Reprinting them isn't a problem and we can get them notarized again, but the longer we delay in submitting these docs, the less likely the annulment will be approved. This is a huge set-back for us.

Re: Destruction of documents
There is nothing you can do. The delay does not prejudice you. No prosecutor would file a case on this. Just do it again.
