Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Disgraceful Representation by an Attorney
About 2 years ago, I was charged with dom assault and battery, and then a violation of a restraining order. I hired an attorney, fortunately I had PROOF the charges were a lie. When I gave this attorney the ''proof'' (not evidence...PROOF) the charges were lies, he told me ''courts don't work that way, where you just present ''proof'' the charges are a lie and they drop the charges...this isn't some episode of CHIPS'' Come to find out he's friends with the attorney representing my accuser, I get to court, not only does he not present my PROOF at court, but just prior to court he also tells two people that came to court with me to corroborate my documentation that they are not needed, to go home. In court, my case was continued, and I felt the whole thing could have been wrapped up that day. Afterwards, my lawyer says to me...''if you want me to represent you again, you'll have to rehire me.'' Yeah, right. I get a new lawyer pronto, and all charges are immediately dropped next time in court. Do I have any recourse to take the first lawyer to court for disgraceful representation? I personally feel he intentionally tried to blow my case, or at least drag it out. Or is it better to just let it go? Any time limit?

What you are talking about is an attorney's potential misconduct. This involves another area that if you wish to discuss, you can contact me.
