Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Dismissed
In the local paper they list court records. Some cases are ''dismissed'', and others are ''dismissed without prejudice''. What's the difference?

Re: Dismissed
Typically almost all dismissals are without prejudice. This means that the Commonwealth can sometimes file another complaint on the same matter. A dismissal with prejudice precludes the filing of another complaint on the same charge(s) that were filed.
