Disturbing the peace charge

I was charged with disturbing the peace. I live out of state, is there some way I can get out of attending the court hearing?

You have to attend. If the scheduled date is a problem and you would like to pick a different date that is reasonably close to the original court date, you may be able to work a different agreed upon date with the DA's office, and then file a joint or assented-to motion to reschedule.

No, and if you do not show, the court will issue a warrant for your arrest: get a lawyer.

To have a disposition, you need to be there. A lawyer can act on your behalf for procedural interim procedures, but you will have to show up for the disposition. Do not let it go. The simple charge of disturbing the peace could turn into an arrest warrant if you default.
