Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Facing Criminal Court for Accidental Uninsured and Reg Violations
I did not receive notification of suspension that I am aware of, I was driving uninsured (again I was not aware of this -- yes, my error, but I'd moved, etc.)
I'm a responsible person; I work 10-12 hrs/day 6 or 7 days a week. I've never had a violation (except when I took out a 1979 diesel VW for the first time after winter -- I was accused of pollution and didn't fight it). I am guilty of being uninsured (while I didn't know it); I was definitely unaware of having a suspended license, etc. I'm in MA. Should I plead, go to jury, go with judge, do I need a lawyer?

Re: Facing Criminal Court for Accidental Uninsured and Reg Violations
The standard dispo in this case calls for a fine of $500, a surfine of $125, and a victim witness fee of $35. With an attorney you may even get a "continued without a finding" with a dismissal in 6 months. It's your call.
