Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
False charges
My son, who is 17 years old was charged with assault and battery for an arguement that he had with another teenager. This other teenager has admitted to stealing and breaking my son's skateboard. My son is also being charged with robbery with intent to collect a loan from this same teenager. The other teenager gave my son $60 towards a new skateboard about a year ago. Now this other teenager is saying that he was robbed and recently assaulted by my son. My son did not assault this other teenager and the other boy gave him the money willingly and said he would give him the other half later on.
My question is, should we file charges against this other teenager for steeling his skateboard?

Re: False charges
First, retain an attorney for your son's defense of the charges against him. Then follow that attorney's advice as to whether to file charges against the other teen. Good Luck!
Re: False charges
Most likely yes - but also consult a criminal defense attorney or me ASAP.
Re: False charges
Attorney Murray has given you excellent advice, and I agree with him completely. The charge against your son should be your first concern.
