There is a mandatory sentence on the school zone charge (2 years). He should apply for a court appointed attorney or hire an attorney immediatley.
The only way to avoid the mandatory sentence is to negotiate with the da's office, file a motion to suppress, or get a not guilty after trial.
Often the police are using distribution where the act(s) were mere possession.

He is facing a minimum mandatory of 2 years if convicted. He needs an attorney. If he can afford one, he should hire one. I would be happy to talk to you tomorrow. Bill harrington, 617-426-7400.
