Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Forced Confession!
Looking for the laws on forced confessions in Massachusetts...the police did not actually force the confession, it was a loss prevention director of a store. Person was threatened with loss of teaching license if they did not admit to crime they did not commit. They also were kept in a small room with dim lighting and not allowed to leave. They were promised nothing would happen to them if they signed, except they would lose their job at the store. Person was arrested and charged with larceny, although there is no evidence that they had anything to do with it, except forced confession which was obtained after hours of pressure and threats. Thanks.

This sounds like kidnapping.
