Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
My friend needs to know what the legal principles surrounding this are. An 18 year old girl carved "spic" in my friends car. My friend wants to press charges. but 16 year old girl says that if she does she will file statutory rape charges and domestic abuse against my friend. my friend is 18 years old and did have sexual relations with the 16 year old. she wants to know what can happen legally. particularly whether there is a law against this or if this is statutory rape. the 18 year old and 16 year old are also having sexual relations.

The girl who carved the car could be charged with a Hate Crime-very serious. The 18 year old could be charged with satutory rape-very serious as well and difficult to defend as it is statutory and the Commonwealth dosen't need to prove a lack of consent like in a rape charge.
