Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Hi. I really like this guy, but the downfall is that he sells crack. A couple of times, I have driven him to make a deal but he would always get out of my car and go into the other car. Then I would just go and pick him up. I would never be in the car. Could I be guilty by accomplice if anything were to happen? He told me that since it is all on him that I can't get in trouble. Is this true?

Yes you can be charged as well-dont mess around this is serious jail time if you are convicted.
He is lying to you.
You could be charged with several different crimes incident to his presence for stuff he leaves around or if he gets arrested. Your exposure legally is huge. Your exposure emotional is even bigger.
You face criminal exposure, namely being charged as a joint venturer for distribution of a class B substance, and conspiracy to violate the drug laws. If he does a drug deal within a 1000' of a school, you can add on a school zone drug violation, a conviction of which carries a 2 year jail sentence on and after any sentence received for selling the drugs. Even if you are just in a car with him and the police find drugs, you will likely be charged with possession of class B or possession of class B with intent to distribute, again under a joint venture theory.
