illegal use of motorcycle

i sold a motorcylce to a friend and left it registered and insured in my name, titled also because he hasn't finished paying for it. he let an unlicensed driver use it guy had a wreck and in hospital may die. am i held responsible and what recourse do i have as an out what is the penalties and is it mando jail time i have already done 20 years prior been out for a year and half and ride in a outlaw motorcycle club
