Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Internet Chat rooms

if a law enforcement agency poses as an adult to gain access to an age restricted area of a chat room. accepts an invitation to a Adult web cam, and after viewing the cam for aprox 5-10mins. the law officer does NOT inform the other party he is actually doing a sting where he is supposed to actually be a minor posing as an adult then claims the party he is viewing should get a lawyer cause charges are going to be brought against them (didnt catch the charge/law which was cited) can charges actually be brought against this person (who is an adult) if the officer doing the investagation does NOT identify himself as an underage minor?

Re: Internet Chat rooms

It is a run-on sentence. But I will respond to one part: Yes, charges can be brought; this is a sting operation, meant to trap. if you or anyone you know was the subject of a sting, they should seek a criminal defense attorney right away, and stop participating in any chat rooms.

Yes charges can be brought against this person. The individual should definitely consult with a criminal defense attorney and stay out of chat rooms. If you would like to discuss this issue further --I can be reached at 617-835-8733. Martha Kovner
