juvenile first offense charges with larceny over 250
my 15 year old daughter was arrested and charge with shoplifting and larceny over 250--her friend was caught on videop surveillance, my daughter surrended --first court date is thursday for formal charges--what should we expect? does the the larceny charge increase her chance of being sent to juvenile hall? they were also found to have pliers with them. How will this affect the judges decision. both girls have never been in trouble, both honor students and have supporting families. How will this affect employment and college applications? Please help

For a 15 year old person, it is important that both her parents show support by appearing with her if at all possible. You should absolutely hire an attorney to represent her. The pliers can be considered burglarious tools and this could up the ante on her charges. With no prior record she is unlikely to go to any jouvenile hall, but she needs the best representation that you can afford.

Where and what court are you going to? Juveniles are treated differently from adultsw and since it her first offense she will probably put on probation. Some courts fhave diversion programs.
