Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Larceny and conspiracy...first time offence

I had been working for a company for 2 or 3 months. There was a lot of theft in the store, and i somehow got sucked into it. When things started to get serious, a good friend of mine was threatened if he went to management or stopped the whole ''ring''. I had the keys to the case with merchandise and i basically got the product and left it on the desk and he did his own thing with it. I did this so my friend would not get hurt, i made little to no profit off this, and my friends car was bashed and he was beat up by the other kids when things leaked. I never actually stole anything on my own or recieved any product. I was completely cooperative with the LP manager who i spoke with, confessed to everything, offered to try and pay it back, returned what 500$ worth of stuff i managed to get back. The total amount of stuff that i helped steal was probably 5 or 6 ipod minis. I have a written confession, the LP guy also told me there would probably be no criminal charges but i guess they decided otherwise. I have a CLEAN record, clean driving/criminal/school EVERYTHING. I got caught up in something stupid and have learned a valuable lesson. Im going to college soon and cant have this on my record. Do i need a lawyer, what should i do?

You definitely need a lawyer!! A lawyer can help to resolve the criminal charge in a manner which would be satisfactory to you. A lawyer can also look for issues in the case. If you would like to discuss the case further, please feel free to call me at 617-835-8733. Martha Kovner

You need an attorney to help your case and to present mitigating information, particularly if a record will affect your employability.
