Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Larceny over $250?

Hello,

If a person wants me to cash a check for them to give to a friend, and I cash that check and give all the money to the friend, can the check writer charge me with the crime of larceny over $250?

Please keep in mind that I was just an ''in-between''. The check writer couldn't make it to the bank and gave me a check in my name to cash. On the memo line of the check, the check writer wrote ''for Jared'' who is the person actually receiving the money.

So if I go to the bank and cash the check and give all the money to her friend, can the check writer turn around and have me charged with larceny over $250 because her friend who received the money didn't pay her back?

Thanks!
