Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

liscense suspension 2 years after conviction?

I was convicted of pocession of class D with intent to distribute. I was sentenced to 6 monthes in jail and a year and a half probation ( i believe a suspended sentence.) I completed my probation on 3/1/08, passed all my drug tests and was perfect. I now recieved a letter from the DMV stating that my liscense will be suspended for 2 years affective on 3/28/08 with a $500 reinstatement fee. I knew this was possible, but when I was released from jail in April of 2006 I went to the registry and asked if my liscense would be suspended. The woman I spoke to said she would contact Chicopee court house and contact me if it would be suspended. I never received a response. Now 2 years later after doing perfect they want to suspend my liscense. Is there a statute of limitations for an action like this? Can they do this this far down the road? They make it so hard to succeed. Please help. I need advice before it is suspended on 3/28/08 so I don't have to pay the reinstatement fee. Thank you.

Retain an attorney to determine whether you can appeal this suspension either with the registry or perhaps through the Court. Good Luck!
