Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

I had a minor car accident tonight and was taken to the hospitals. I was a bit confused directly after the accident. They impounded my car and took my license but quickly released me from the hospital after police questioned me. I was confused as
to why they were talking to me. They said they found a couple of small bags of heroin on my car which I do not use. They never drug tested me or anything. Hey gave me a quick test of walking standing bit said there were no issues. They said I seemed fine. I had given a ride to a friend prior to me going to work so I think it was theirs. I am confused as to what will happen to me. Very scared as I have never been in trouble. I am 45 years old and don't do drugs.
