Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
petty theft
I am being accused or petty theft, I worked for the women who was robbed for 8 months at her home. My fingerprints are all over the house, and on the item that was stolen. Can they charge me for the crime, just because my fingerprints are present?

Re: petty theft
The police will charge you if they believe they have enough evidence to establish that you were the perpetrator. Although you haven't provided enough information for me to evaluate your case, it seems like there are at least 2 factors at work -- first, if you worked for the victim, I assume you had access to the inside of the house. That would be one factor the police would likely consider. Secondly, you said that your fingerprints are on missing item. Although I don't know much about this case, I suppose that is another factor the police might consider.
Larceny
The short answer is yes.
Your problem is to defend yourself.
You should talk to no one, and certainly not post a detailed description on the internet.
The next person you should and must speak to is an attorney to analyze the case, and discuss your options.
