Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

planting bug device in my apt

my landlord was approached by a detective who had questioned me in reference to allegations about someone. He asked my landlord if he would let him into my apt. so he could put bugs so he could eavesdrop on me. This is totally an invasion of privacy and more. What if I tried to prosecute and could I? How could I put this detective in his place? And what if my old landlord denies it because he is a business person in this town and wants to stay on the good side of the cops? Is this a law suit?

I do not believe that your landlord has the authority to allow the bug without a court order. At a minimum, this is a breach of your tenancy.

I do not thing the detective is allowed under the same conditions.
