Being a minor in possession of alcohol is only punishable by a fine (I.e. no potential jail time). The greater concern for most is the collateral consequence of losing your license. If you are convicted of being a minor in possession of alcohol the Registry of Motor Vehicles will suspend your drivers license.
This type of offense is usually easily resolved with dismissal on court costs. In fact, you may be able to handle it yourself. But if you feel as thought the DA is not being reasonable, you may want to consider consulting with an attorney before resolving the matter.
