Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

prescription fraud

going to be charged with prescription fraud. questioned, but i have not received summons in mail yet. ihave no previous criminal record. i was in the process of moving out of state prior to being questioned..i am widowed with three children and work in the medical field with real pain problems. i was leaving massachusetts so that i would not have to continue working eighty hours a week while attending school...if i stay here i will not have any place to live....could i still move and come back for any court date that may come up ? is my career over ?

Re: prescription fraud

You could leave the state and come back for court appearances. You don't want it to appear that you are leaving to avoid prosecution. You should provide a new address to the authorities so that they know how to reach you--if they decide to go forward with the charges. You should hire a lawyer who can help you to get the best resolution of the case--options sometimes are pretrial probation or even a continuation without a finding which might help to save your career. As for you career--I assume the licensing board of your field might take disciplinary action based upon whatever happens with your criminal case. Your attorney can help you with that hearing also. Hope that this helps. Please feel free to contact me further. Good Luck. Martha Kovner

Re: prescription fraud???

Atty Kovner's answer is good. You haven't said what the allegations are; you merely presented the conclusion. You may need to sit with a counsel to discuss the details of the pending charge, and what your legal and professional options are.
