Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
What is the process?
Someone accused me of a crime well over 2.5 months ago. I was never arrested but did make a statment to the police. I got a notice to appear in court in 4 months from now. My question is why so long? I don't understand why it takes so long? I am being charged with a felony, so why is it taking so long to get to court?

Except for certain alleged crimes, the police and the district attorney are allowed as much time as the statute of limitation permits; this is usually in terms of the number of years; A clerk's hearing is a s erious matter, you should usually not attend one without having consulted an attorney, or considering bringing an attorney with you, especially with a felony charge.
