Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
seizure of car
i let someone borrow my car, they
crashed had a fight w/ the other car
then left the scene. a witness had
my plate, the mass state police came
to my house and seized my car.
what do i do? and what does this
mean to me? i was not involved in
this just my car

Retain an attorney and speak only with that attorney as you could incriminate yourself even by telling the police you loaned your car to another if that person was not properly licensed, for example. Good Luck!

Unfortnately, the police seem to be holding your car as evidence. You may also be charged since all they have for identification is likely your plate. You should call the police and explain that you lent your car to someone. However, understand that they will then charge your friend with the appropriate charges. You should have an attorney with you when you speak to the police. You need to be careful not to incriminate yourself somehow.
