Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Small theft
I got caught shoplifting a pair of
underwear from an urban outfitters.
The police were not called but I am
18 years old and I was wondering
what is going to happen. Will I get a
court date and if I do is it going to be
in the city where I got caught? Also,
does this go on my record and will I
have to list it on job applications and
such? For the record it was in Boston
but I live in Philadelphia.

If you are charged and arraigned, there will be an entry on your record. So even it gets dismissed, the charge will appear, with a disposition of dismissed. You can later have the record sealed, but a sealed entry will appear.
