Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Son is being held in Orange County CA jail for extradition to Mass. How can I find out if Mass is going to pick him up. He has no resources or anyone to help him or tell him anything. He is just sitting in jail waiting to hear anything.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Law enforcement authorities Massachusetts will have to foot the bill to bring him back across the country, which usually involves sending tow law enforcement officers out to get him. Unless Massachusetts REALLY wants him, they are not likely to actually extradict him. If that is the case, an attorney in California should be able to get him released before too long. On the other hand, if Massachusetts intends to bring him back, someone should be able to tell you that as well. I would check with the law enforcement agency that holds his warrant in Massachusetts.
