Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

what is...

what is the statute of limitations for filing a lawsuit for ''defamation of character'' in the state of Mass?

I now have a record on the CORI system as a result of an accusation, a criminal charge was dismissed, but the charge still remains on my record, would that constitute defamation of character?

Attorney Lebensbaum is correct that you cannot sue the state. Moreover, based on what you've written, I don't see that you have a basis to go after the person(s) who made the original allegation(s), simply because the charge was dismissed. Do you have evidence to prove that the accuser(s) knew that they were making false allegations about you?

You cannot sue the state over this entry. You can have your record sealed, however.
