Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

subponea question

I was recently subponeaed to a plantiffs lawyers office (as a witness), where I feel certain questions were asked of me that I think had no bearing on the case,, couple of my co-workers told me I had a right to have my own lawyer present, and the plantiffs Lawyer should have told that to me. I thought I was there for one thing that was mentioned on the subponea and the questioning I feel now was out offline,

my question is should the plantiffs lawyer have told me I have a right to have my own lawyer or not to answere those questions

: subponea question

What you describe appears incorrect. Lawyers summons individuals for depositions. It is not clear that the questioning attorney is required to advise you of your legal rights. This does not sound like a criminal matter. Whether a questions is relevant cannot always be evident to the person be deposed.

There is much information missing, and regardless, if this is a deposition, you have a right to review the document for accuracy and consult an attorney now.
