Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Suppression of evidence
I was going to get indicted for trafficking in class B, in school zone
with 20.3 grams of cocaine and all of a sudden when i go to court they reduced it to 8. My lawyer didn't ask why. Is this a sign of willful suppression of evidence?

Re: Suppression of evidence
I can not tell you exactly what happened but typically when the weight goes down it is because the drug certification came back from the state crime lab and showed the real quantity. The DA's office is not in the habit or reducing chages (trafficing to distribution) for no reason.

This is extremely good news for you. You just avoided significant mandatory minimum jail time. I would not ask lots of questions as to why.
