Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

I told a story i got robbed with a knife and he got away. It has to do with a transaction being made. Everything i told the police was ture up until the part where he pulled a knife out and demaned money. The police caught the guy arrested him and got him to confess to selling me something that never worked. The police told me to come in and i went. They told me they have the video of what happened. They told just tell them what really happened that no charges will be brought against me. If it was just him sealing me something that didn't work intentionally and i found out later it didnt work they want to know if it was just that. The part with the knife isn't true and they wanted the truth. I told them and they okay. They let me go. They said they will talk to the DA about this. They said that nothing is going to happened to me. What does it mean? Will they arrest me later?

Filing a false police report is a criminal offense, however, they will not arrest you. The worst that could happen at this point is that you will recieve a summons to appear in court. I suggest that you do not answer any more questions from the police without an attorney being present. As for your confession, under Digiambatista, a case in Massachusetts, police are restricted as to the amount of lies that they can tell you. It appears that your confession to them may have been coerced based on the lies and their promises not to prosecute if you tell them the truth. Please, call me if you recieve the summons.
