Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
unjustfully accused
recently my husband was accused of damaging a neighbors property. the police did come to our home and had explained the complaint, but had also stated that because he did not believe the other party he was not going arrested my husband. Currently these people are taking us to court and have changed their statement and filed a criminal complaint with the police department. we have tried to contact the attending officer that came to our home, but he works on the field from midnight to 8 am and whenever we place a call we are just given the run around and are unable to leave a message. we have been assigned a court appointed attorney who we feel really does not care to help this case. we are afraid that we are going to lose to these people who are accusing my husband of something that he did not do. we currently have neighbors who have written letters of support, but we feel that this is not going to be sufficient, if we do not get a statement from the police officer. our current attorney had stated that he would contact the officer, but nothing has been done as of yet. we have tried contacting other attorney's, but the costs we have been quoted to date have been too rich for our income. please help.
