Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Vehicular Homicide

When I was 16 1/2 I was involved in a motor vehicle accident that took the life of an elderly man in the other car. I was found at fault for the accident and charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide. There were no drugs or alochol involved. No jail time just had to complete programs and loss of license for 10 years. I'm turning 24 next year, and I'm still not eligible for my license for another 4 years. Is there any way to get it back EARLIER? I've since graduated from college, and am a prominent member of the Boston Business community. Not a single thing on my record other than this horrible incident.

Re: Vehicular Homicide

You could retain an attorney to appeal to the Registry of Motor Vehicles to reinstate you sooner.

Good Luck!

Re: Vehicular Homicide

You may appeal the current ruling to the Appeals Board of the Registry of Motor vehicles. We have represented many appeal cadidates who sucessfully were able to have the terms of their suspensions amended. In some cases the time was shortened, in others they were able to get hardship licenses (12 hours of driving allowed per day). Not all appeals are sucessful, but many are. I would encourage you to hire counsel with experience with these appeals and give it a shot.
