Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Will a Clerk-Magistrate find me responsible for larceny over $250?

In October of 08 a lady wrote a check out in my name to cash for her for $3,300. At the time she couldn't go to the bank and asked me to cash the check and bring her back the money.

I did just that and never heard anything else about it.

Well, in Jan of 09 the lady was charged with a crime which I am a witness to. She went to a Magistrate's (probable cause) hearing and was found responsible. She was arraigned.

She was later accused of additional crimes and had another Magistrate's hearing. Again I am a witness against her & she knows I'll have to testify against her at trial.

Now, all of a sudden, she is charging me w/larceny over $250 & is using the check as the basis 4 her complaint! I now have a Magistrate's hearing in June. Do u think the Magistrate will find me responsible? The Mag. knows I'm a witness againt the lady.

The lady who wrote the check for me to cash is concocting a story saying that I went to her and asked for bail money for a person. She even states that I gave the money to the person!!

I think this is her way of getting me to not testify against her!

Do you think the Clerk-Magistrate will find probable cause and have me charged with larceny over $250?

I don't understand how the alleged receipt of bail money relates to a larceny charge, which makes it even more difficult to tell what the clerk magistrate is likely to do. In any event, given the charge involved (i.e. larceny over $250, which is a felony), I think you should consult privately with an attorney, rather than trying to figure this out on a bulletin board like this one.
