Re: Will i go to jail

If the charge is Larceny over $250, it is a felony charge with a MAXIMUM penalty of 2 1/2 years in the house of correction or if the case is indicted by the District Attorney's office and moves to superior court as opposed to district court there could be a state prison sentence. You should hire a lawyer who can explain the system to you and represent your interests. Just because there is a potential penalty for jail does not mean that you will definitely get jail time, if convicted. There are many other possible dispositions that a good lawyer can help you to get. Please feel free to contact me further. Martha Kovner

Re: Will i go to jail

The charges are serious. You have not said whether you have been indicted, or may be indicted, or if the charges are to remain in district court. The charges alone cannot tell me what the likely disposition is, and you should not discuss anything that may incriminate you on the web, especially on this site. You have not told me if you are represented by counsel, and at what stage are the proceedings against you. You are welcome to contact me, and we can discuss these charges.
