Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

work place theft

A friend of mine is being looked at as a suspect in a theft of over 6000.00 dollars from their work place. They did not commit this crime. They have cooperated in every way includng taking a lie dector test. The police claimed that my friend failed almost every question including most control questions. My friend has an alliby and witnesses to the crime stating the offeder was not my friend. All of the edvidence is very circumstancial. What are the chances they could be convicted?and if they are convicted what kind of sentence does that carry?

Re: work place theft

Your friend should retain an attorney and speak only to that attorney about this as larceny over $250 is a felony which could result in over 2 years in jail and/or restitution.

First of all your friend should stop talking, and hire a criminal defense attorney, like me.

I or another attorney would be better placed to analyze the situation, and advise him or her of their options.

Given what you have described, your friend has already said and done too much.
