Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Massachusetts
MassHousing 13A
The landlord just increased my rent by $300+ and I live in a subsidized unit. Is this allowed, such a big increase all at once? Can't find anything on the gov site re large rent increases without annual recertification for lease renewal. I suspect they want the apartment not an elderly tenant.
If you can help, my thanks

Re: MassHousing 13A
While specific rules apply in the area of public housing, a landlord generally cannot raise the rent during the middle of a tenancy.
If you have a one year written lease with your landlord, the monthly rent payments have already been agreed upon, and cannot be changed.
However, the way in which you refuse to pay the rent increase could make all the difference in who is later viewed to be at fault.
