Legal Question in DUI Law in Massachusetts

Dui/protective custody

I was driving home got lost and hit a curb blowing out a tire.I sent my friend for help and 3 police cars showed up. They asked what happened I told them I accidentally hit a curb causing a flat. They asked if I was drinking I said 2 glasses of wine. They asked if I was driving I got scared and said my friend who had left for help was driving. They went and located him,and again asked who was driving when I admitted it was me. They handcuffed both of us and said we were being placed in protective custody (not DUI).At the police station they had me empty my pockets and found a small unmarked container with oxicodone which I have a prescription for due to a back injury, but did not have it on me. I also had a few klonopin my friend gave me. I was charged with possesion of a class A substance. I have never been in trouble with the law. What will happen to me??

Thank you.

Re: Dui/protective custody

It is hard to answer your question without more details. What are you charged with, other than possession of a Class A substance? Do you have a prescription for Klonopin? Have the police told you there will be other charges?

Let me know and I can try to answer your question.

You should be asking an attorney whom you should retain to assist you in defending you on whatever charges ensue.
