Legal Question in DUI Law in Massachusetts
Mass. license revoked 32 years later
In 1981 I was advised and pled guilty to a vehicular homicide charge (no alcohol involved)and loss my license for 3 years. I had a prior DWI in Mass from the same year. My licenses were due to renew earlier this year and my name came up in NDR from a1975 DWI in Florida when I was 19 and in the Navy. I cleared that out with the Registry. Mass. has revoked my license for life due to the 1975 DWI. I pled guilty in 1981 but due to lifetime lookback and the 1975 charge being in the computer I am told they can revoke my licenses again? Isn't that double jeopardy? I feel like my only crime is ny name came up in a computer. I don't even drink and haven't since 1995. I went before the board of appeals last week and am waiting for an answer but the hearing didn't go well. I felt like I was on trial. can they revoke my licenses NOW?

Action by the registry does not implicate the double jeopardy clause. One would have to examine your record, and compare it to the registry's regulations to provide an answer to your question.
