The consequences range from jail to a stern warning from a judge.

Your son is at a crossroads. Often young adults his age (under 21 based on the minor in possession) have little appreciate for the long term consequences of these actions. The subsequent criminal proceedings will follow him for the rest of his life. It is important that he do whatever he can to mitigate the impact it has on his future (at worst jail; but realistically he may incur enhanced probation conditions, further license consequences, and perhaps additional fines and fees).

I would suggest consulting an attorney. He needs to stop the bleeding and, as is evident by his recent decision making, may not have the tools necessary to properly handle his own defense.

I am pretty familiar with the Gloucester court. It is likely this can be resolved without a major additional penalty. It will depend on which judge is on the bench, and which probation officer your son has, among other things. I would get a lawyer, and get into court right away to resolve this before it gets worse.

Work with the probation officer.

Courts do not like minors who are convicted and then re-arrested for a linked event.
