Legal Question in DUI Law in Massachusetts

I've had an ongoing OUI case since 12/23/2006, my lawyer has been getting it motioned was suppose to have a trial my last appearance, but someone from the state police couldn't show. I have a court date 03/11/2008 for a trial, and out of no where the da, subpoenas my best friend who was in the car with me the night of ( i was actually driving his car). I find it kind of odd, but what do you think they are trying to pull?
