Legal Question in Elder Law in Massachusetts

Age discrimination at work

Im 63 years old Staff Engineer. I work 10 years in one of US divisions of Siemens Corporation. All these years I had far above average performance evaluations. Last year I was granted companys star award and certificate of excellence.

However at this year review employer gave me undeserved poor performance evaluation.

I suspect Age discrimination at work.

Please advice what should I do?

Re: Age discrimination at work

Age discrimination is difficult to prove. Do you have any other reasons for suspecting age discrimination? Are there other employees your age at the company or in your department and if so, how are they treated? Have any supervisors said anything about your age or older people in general? Do you have a new supervisor? Has the managament changed?

You should speak with the HR department about your situation, outlining your past performance and the recent review. If there are any other indications of discrimination, you should tell them that as well. At the very least you should be able to submit a rebuttal to the bad review to be placed in your personnel file.

Good luck -
