Legal Question in Elder Law in Massachusetts
I had a deed with a retained life estate prepared. I noticed a mistake in my son's first name. My son's legal first name is John White not Johnathan White. How would one correct it and about how much would it cost.
Thank you so much.

The drafting attorney should prepare what's called an "affidavit of scrivener's error" to put the correct name on record. Ask the attorney what he'll charge -- that varies from one lawyer to another -- and keep in mind that the Registry of Deeds will charge $75 to record the document.
