We strongly suspect our elderly father in his upper 70,s being verbally, emotionally and mentally abused by his much younger wife. Using brainwashing techniques She has alienated all his children from their home. He also suffers from severe memory loss and confusion. and dramatic weight loss is left home alone all day long,as told to us by witnesses. We also believe her motive is money. What can be done??? Re: Elderly Spousal Abuse
The first call I would make is to your local Adult Protective Services agency -- call the Council on Aging for the city or town where your father lives for the telephone number.
I also encourage you to call an elder law attorney who does a lot of guardianship work in the county where your father lives and discuss whether you need to get the court's help -- which will be necessary if adult protective services does not bring the case itself.
