Legal Question in Elder Law in Massachusetts

Laid off at 61 years old!

I got laid off in April 2008 along with 3 others all over 54 years old. I had been with the company since 1991. I was a supervisor making 62,000/yr. My job is still there with a much younger person making 1/2 of my pay. Can I find relief here under the law?

Agreed -- the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act and comparable state laws provide protection for workers over age 40 if they can show that the layoff was discriminatory.

I strongly suggest you contact an experienced employment law attorney to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your case.

Re: Laid off at 61 years old!

You and the 3 others may have a valid claim for Age Discrimination. I suggest you contact an employment attorney ASAP.

Please do not delay. You will need to file a complaint with MCAD and seek a right to sue letter or they might investigate.

If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
