Legal Question in Elder Law in Massachusetts
A few years ago i was added to my mother's bank accounts , she now wants to be taken off the account, so they will be in my name only.
Is that ok?..are there limits to the amount?
I live in Massachusetts ,I have poa, hcp, executor of estate.

By taking her name off the account she is making a gift to you. Depending upon where she lives there may or may not be a state gift tax. For federal tax purposes any amount over $14,000 requires a gift tax return. Assuming she has not made taxable gifts over $5.4 Million to date there should not be any tax to pay.
The only issue will be if she ever applies for Medicaid for a nursing home. There is a five year look back period.
