Is it illegal for the movie theater i work at to refuse my request for Christmas eve and Christmas off if its against my religion?

In general, your ability to receive unpaid time off to attend a religious ceremony intricate to your religion is protected. However, as a practical matter, to receive the entire day off would in most cases be a stretch without very specific facts.
