Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Massachusetts
Is it legal to sell recordings of a performance of original music to which i hold the copyright that was performed in a notable music venue, i.e. The Blue Note? I do not intend to use any logos or likeness of the club on promotional materials or packaging. But can I use the text "John Smith Music at the Blue Nile"?

The answer to the question depends on what copyright you own. Do you own the rights to the music as well as the recordings or just the recordings? Do you own the copyright to the recordings?
Do you have a release from the group allowing you to use the live performance?
There are a lot of complex questions and issues that need to be answered before anyone can give you a reasonable response.
I would suggest you contact an attorney to discuss your rights and what you may need to do to perfect your interest and rights in the recordings.
