Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

On May 14, 2010, my daughter, in Massachusetts, was served a complaint regarding a custody issue, with the response date being May 27. I am under the impression that at least 30 days must be given to the defendant for a response. Thank you.

A Judge has the power to shorten the time period to respond to a complaint. You should read the papers carefully to see when the response is due. I suggest that your daughter consult an attorney on this matter.
