Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

My 19 year old son has been granted a medical leave from his first semester of college due to mental issues. He has returned home, entered a psychiatric program, is in therapy and is actively seeking return to college full-time. The college has granted him special permission to enroll in this summer part-time in another university for credit. he will be returning to college in the fall. As part of his rehab and training to organize and handle stress, he was encouraged to take a full-time job which he has done. his father now has used this f-t status to claim he is emancipated and will no longer pay child support. Is this an accurate assumption in the state of MA. My son makes min wage, is saving 75% of his income to offset college loans created and will be created upon his return. He is only responsible for a share of gas, cigarettes and small social expenses. thank you.
